Excursion nr. 6 – Fontana Nuova.
Fontana Nuova rock shelter is inserted in a valuable naturalistic context, having maintained its environmental and landscape integrity near the coast and the mouth of the Irminio river, which was a link between the coast and the hinterland.
Flint artifacts, faunal and human bones remains have been found here. Through various studies, the site has been dated to about 30,000 years ago, therefore it represents one of the oldest places as a human settlement.
