Excursion nr. 5 – Randello Reserve
It is a 156-hectare nature reserve, a former hunting reserve until the 1700s.
It is characterized by sand dunes set in a large bayt and protected by a forest of eucalyptus, cypress, pine and holm oak and Mediterranean essences, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.
Nearby lie the ruins of the Torre Vigliena, a military defense of 1595 and the ruins of the necropolis of the archaeological area of Kamarina (5th – 2nd century BC).
